Organic and flexible trend for architects

That is how Nacka Värmdö Posten summarizes the interview with Rahel Belatchew about trends on the house market in their latest issue. "– There is an organic trend that I believe we will se more and more. It mirrors how one wishes to live, says Rahel Belatchew (...) – I always try to design rooms that capture daylight and then white walls work the best. The house should be a good basis for mobile interior design details. According to Rahel Belatchew the current trends can be summarized in three parts: organic, flexible and a tighter economy. – This is mirrored in the planning, choice of material and size." The magazine also attract attention to Eco House. ”In the company's ”Eco-house” effort is put on  geothermal heating and solar collectors supplemented with a heating stove , low energy consuming household appliances and toilets. It is effectively planned and as a supplement to the refrigerator there is a big larder with space for recycling. The larder is connected to the washing area and the service entrance. – We departed from the "icon" of a house and conventionalized it. The house is covered in untreated wood both on walls and roof. On one of the sides the roof continues as a pergola and creates an outdoor room. – It can either be closed with glasspanes or let vegitation cover it.” The whole interview can be read here. Kungsbroskrapan

rb arkitektur kungsbroskrapan stockholm city stadsplanering höghus skyskrapa Kungsbroskrapan - a high rise proposal for Stockholm City The Kungsbroskrapan is a high rise proposal for Stockholm City. We believe the city has a potential for new buildings presenting progressive architecture of an international standard. The 30-storey building contains offices as well as apartments. The site has been chosen for its strategic location next to the main railway station amidst railway tracks and roads, where the Kungsgatan street meets the bridge Kungsbron, at the shore of Klara Lake. The building also becomes a counter piece to the existing Kungsbro-towers further to the north on the same street. While designing the building our aim has been to make it part of the surrounding flow of the railway traffic. The building reaches upward in a linear movement with parallel lines continuing without interruption from the street up onto the façade in one sole movement, like the tracks of the railway system. The building then splits into two with one body branching off to the side like a track switch, while the other turns to face the waterside. ###

Finnboda’s Cranetrack

RB Arkitektur recieved a comission to develop a proposition for the alteration of Finnboda Hamn's cranetrack into a restaurant. The cranetrack is situated on the waterfront and is considered a memorial  monument, and is today partly hidden behind brickwalls and a superstructure in sheet metal. We began by liberating the structure of concrete to be able to highlight it. In the next stage we imagined the heavy concrete structure as a tweezer holding a fragile and valuable object - the new restaurant in steel and glass. The structure of the restaurant has been borrowed from the site's historic cranes. Its surface coat that runs from impermeable to transparent creates both a contrast to the cranetrack's heavy concrete structure and to the infinite movements of the water. Townhouses

The location for these townhouses is a south facing lot sloping in two directions and offering a beautiful view of the outskirts of Stockholm. Surrounding buildings vary from big establishments to smaller entities. The target group is younger families who have grown to big for their appartments and who long for a house but would rather not move out to the suburbs. Our townhouses should be a link betweenthe big and the small, between the city and the suburb - the dream about the house in the city! Every housing entity has two floor and access to a private garden or terrace. Together the entities form two rows of townhouses, one on top of the other, that climbe up the slope. When choosing materials and colors we studied the lot as it looks today, a green overgrown slope. By designing the faces of the houses in the same range of colors, creating a camoflaged face, we recreated and apsired to give back some of what we had claimed.
