Competition entry for a new school in Tynset, Norway. The new school should evoke curiosity and interest and be a new element in the city. It should also mirror the multiplicity of creative activity taught here. For students and teachers we wanted to create an open, light and stimulating environment that fosters spontaneous encounters. Different parts of the school provides for different kinds of environments and all parts provide a close connection to nature. Instead of creating one big building we designed several buildnings clustered around an indoor square. Each building represents a study unit and is designed to get an individual identity. Similarly to a village the buildings are clustered around a square. The resulting starlike formation gives a good general view and short distances between the different units.
